Sufi Islamic Board National President Mansoor Khan Attends 47th Anniversary of Iran’s Islamic Revolution, Emphasizes Promotion of Sufism

On the occasion of the 47th Anniversary of the Victory of the Islamic Revolution of Iran and Iran’s National Day, a commemorative reception was held on 9 February 2026 at the picturesque Jade Garden, Mumbai, bringing together a distinguished gathering of guests to celebrate this historic milestone with the Iranian nation.

The event was attended by senior Government officials, Consuls General, representatives of trade and cultural institutions, members of the media, figures from the film and creative industries, Indian friends of Iran, as well as members of the Iranian community residing in India.

The warm and convivial atmosphere reflected the spirit of friendship, mutual respect, and shared cultural appreciation that characterizes Iran–India relations.

The reception provided an opportunity for dialogue, networking, and the strengthening of existing ties, while also paving the way for new avenues of cooperation.

Many guests expressed keen interest in Iran’s rich cultural heritage, artistic vitality, and tourism potential, and were encouraged to explore Iran as a destination distinguished by its history, hospitality, and civilizational depth.

In their addresses, H.E. Mr. Motlaq, Consul General of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Mumbai, and Dr. Gawande, Chief Protocol, highlighted the current cordial relations between Iran and India, underscoring the long-standing historical, cultural, and civilizational links between the two nations.

They also took note of the growing cultural, artistic, and people-to-people exchanges, emphasizing their role in deepening mutual understanding and fostering sustainable cooperation.

The speakers further stressed the importance of cultural diplomacy as a bridge between societies, noting that exchanges in the fields of art, cinema, literature, and heritage have significantly contributed to bringing the peoples of Iran and India closer together.

The Consulate General of the Islamic Republic of Iran in Mumbai extends its sincere appreciation to all distinguished guests and participants for their presence and engagement, and reaffirms its commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and promoting cultural, economic, and social cooperation between the two friendly nations.

Expressing gratitude on being invited to the prestigious event, Mr. Mansoor Khan, National President of the Sufi Islamic Board, thanked H.E. Mutlaq for the invitation to be part of the special occasion commemorating the 47th Anniversary of the Islamic Republic of Iran and Iran’s National Day.
“We are thankful to His Excellency Mr. Mutlaq for inviting us to become part of this significant celebration. India and Iran have enjoyed strong, healthy trade, bilateral, and cultural relations for decades,” Mr. Khan said.

Congratulating the Government of Iran on the 47th Anniversary of the Islamic Republic and National Day, Mr. Khan highlighted the deep-rooted ties between the two nations.
He further stated that India and Iran share many similarities, particularly in terms of cultural heritage. Emphasizing the importance of spiritual harmony, he appealed to both governments to further promote cultural cooperation, especially Sufism, which he described as an integral part of the civilizational and constitutional ethos of both India and Iran.


“Sufism should be actively promoted across both nations and continents to strengthen peace, unity, and cultural understanding,” he added.
