Prof. Dr. Rehana Habib Kanth highlights vision and objectives of 11th Kissan AGRI TECH-2026 at SKUAST-K

In an exclusive interview with Hilal Hayder, Prof. Dr. Rehana Habib Kanth, Director Extension, Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences & Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K), elaborated on the significance and objectives of the 11th Kissan AGRI TECH-2026 Mela, scheduled to be held on 14th, 15th and 16th February 2026 at SKUAST-K, Shalimar.
Speaking on the theme “GONGUL – Growth through Innovation, Sustainability and Farmer Empowerment”, Prof. Dr. Rehana Habib Kanth said the three-day mega agricultural event aims to bring farmers, scientists, agri-entrepreneurs, startups, policymakers and industry experts on a common platform to promote technology-driven and climate-resilient agriculture in Jammu & Kashmir.
She emphasized that the mela will showcase latest agricultural technologies, advanced farm machinery, high-yielding and climate-smart crop varieties, precision farming tools, organic and natural farming practices, post-harvest management, value addition and agri-based entrepreneurship opportunities.
Highlighting the role of the Extension Wing of SKUAST-K, Prof. Dr. Kanth said the university is committed to ensuring effective transfer of research and innovations from laboratories to farmers’ fields. “Kissan AGRI TECH-2026 is a farmer-centric initiative aimed at enhancing productivity, sustainability and farmers’ income while preparing agriculture for future challenges,” she added.

She further informed that special interactive sessions, live demonstrations and expert consultations will be organized for progressive farmers, women farmers, self-help groups, rural youth and agri-startups, encouraging them to adopt modern agri-technologies and entrepreneurship.
During the interview, Hilal Hayder observed that the 11th Kissan AGRI TECH-2026 Mela will play a pivotal role in strengthening the agrarian economy of Kashmir by providing direct access to scientific knowledge, innovative solutions and market linkages under one roof.
The 11th Kissan AGRI TECH-2026 Mela, to be held from 14–16 February 2026 at SKUAST-K, Shalimar, is expected to witness massive participation from farmers and stakeholders across Jammu & Kashmir, marking another milestone in the journey towards smart, sustainable and inclusive agricultural development….
