MUMBAI — A festive atmosphere engulfed the historic district of Bhendi Bazaar as thousands of Dawoodi Bohra Muslims gathered to celebrate Milad un-Nabi, the birth anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The celebrations form a core part of the community’s long-standing religious traditions.
On the eve of Milad un-Nabi, His Holiness Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin, the 53rd leader of the Dawoodi Bohra community, led a celebratory procession within the Raudat Tahera complex. The procession featured children in vibrant attire alongside floats showcasing various themes, accompanied by musical performances from community brass bands.
The following morning, community members gathered at local mosques and community centers to listen to a recorded sermon by the late 52nd leader, Syedna Mohammed Burhanuddin. The sermon highlighted the life, character, and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), and featured historic audio excerpts from the 51st leader, Syedna Taher Saifuddin.

Speaking on the significance of the occasion, Hussain Poonawala, a Mumbai-based Bohra resident, said:
”The life and teachings of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)—rooted in kindness, justice, and compassion—serve as a guiding light for every Muslim. We are reminded to embody these values daily and contribute positively as responsible citizens.”

Dawoodi Bohra congregations across the globe similarly marked the occasion, combining local cultural elements with a shared reverence for the Prophet’s legacy
