PM Modi Honors Hazrat Imam Hussain on Ashura, Calls His Sacrifice a Timeless Inspiration for Truth and Justice
Rev. Fr. Gourav Singha Ray from Kolkotta observed Yom Ashura is the 10th day of Moharram. On this day, in history, Hussain Ibn Ali (the grandson of Prophet Mohammad) was killed/martyred for refusing to submit to the leadership of Islamic caliph Yazid Ibn Muyawiah. Hussain refused the caliphate leadership of Yazid on moral grounds and most of Hussain’s male family members were also killed and the rest taken captive in this battle. Interestingly there is a significant contribution of Christians of Middle East and Hindus (Rahad Sidh Dutt and his 7 sons, Brahmins of India) who travelled to Qarbala, to fight for the sake of Imam Hussain and sacrificed all 7 lives in the battle.

Regarding historical Christian connection to the famous Battle Of Qarbala in 680 AD, where many prominent Christian faithful fought bravely and laid down their lives for Imam Hussain.
The most notable Christian figures who died at the battle was John bin Huwai (also known as Jawn bin Huwayy) was a devoted Nubian Christian who served in the army of Imam Husayn ibn Ali. He fought alongside Imam Hussain, sacrificing his life on the Day of Ashura. Another Christian faithful was Wahab ibn Abdullah al-Kalbi. His mother urged him to fight and defend the Imam Hussain. Wahab fought bravely and ultimately gave his life on the Qarbala battlefield.
Sufi Mansoor Khan, the National President of Sufi Islamic Board thanked all those who rememberd Hazrat Imam Hussain a s. and his companions on the day of Aashura and said let us work togather to bring humanity to the page of Hussainiyat
