CM Omar Abdullah Kicks Off Gon’gul-2026 at SKUAST-Kashmir, Emphasises Agricultural Innovation Event at Srinagar

Srinagar 14th February : Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday visited various stalls at Gon’gul-2026  Festival cum Agriculture event organized by Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST-K). He was accompanied by Agriculture Minister Javaid Ahmad Dar, Health Minister Sakeena Itoo and Waqf Board Chairperson Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi.


The dignitaries toured different exhibition stalls and interacted with farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, startups and self-help groups participating in the mega agricultural event. They appreciated the innovative technologies, value-added products and research-based solutions showcased during the exhibition, highlighting their importance in shaping the future of agriculture in Jammu & Kashmir region.
While addressing the gathering Chief Minister Omer Abdullah lauded the progressive farmers and young innovators for adopting modern techniques and promoting sustainable, technology-driven agricultural practices. He emphasized the government’s commitment to strengthening the agriculture and allied sectors through innovation, skill development, value addition and improved market linkages.
The event was conducted under the supervision and guidance of Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Nazir Ahmad Ganie, Registrar Dr. Azmat Alam Khan and Director Extension Prof. Dr. Rehana Habib Kanth, along with the active involvement of Directors, Heads of Divisions, scientists and faculty members of the university.

Gon’gul-2026 once again reflected SKUAST-K’s pivotal role in promoting research, extension services and entrepreneurship development, reaffirming its commitment to empowering farmers and accelerating agricultural growth in the region.

The event was organized with the objective of boosting agriculture and encouraging start-up growth in the region.
