*Leaders from the MVA & Social Movements to join the Peace March!*
*We will gather at Lokmanya Tilak Statue, Girgaum Chowpatty, at 8.00 am, on Friday, 9th August!! We will march to the August Kranti Maidan and pay our respects & offer our homage to the Martyr’s of our Freedom Movement.*
*This will be followed by a Public Meeting at the Gandhi Book Centre, from 10.00am to 2.00pm.*

*In the early hours of 9th of August 1942, the Colonial police arrested Mahatma Gandhi and the rest of the Congress leadership to prevent them from giving the call – British Quit India! The epic call was coined by Freedom Fighter Yusuf Meheraly. On the morning of the 9th, freedom fighter Aruna Asaf Ali hoisted the flag at August Kranti Maidan and gave the call – ‘Angrezon Bharat Chhodo!’.*
This momentous period in our history finally led us to our freedom. Thus, on this day, we march to remember the rich tradition and legacy of our freedom movement. We continue to march for the cause of peace, harmony & and national unity,
The Peace March is being held under the leadership of our venerable freedom fighter Dr. G. G. Parikh & Tushar Gandhi.
*Political party leaders* from across the spectrum will be joining the march and they include, Nana Patole (Maharashtra President, INC), Varsha Gaikwad (MP, Mumbai President, INC), Abu Asim Azmi (Maharashtra President, SP), Rakhi Jadhav (Mumbai President (NCP-SP), Com. Shailendra Kamble (CPM), Com. Charul Joshi (CPI) & Com. Ajit Patil (CPI-ML Liberation).
*The civil society leaders* include Medha Patkar, Yogendra Yadav, Dr. Sunilam, B. R. Patil, Justice Kolse Patil, Ramashanker Singh, Shyamdada Gaikwad, Anand Patwardhan, Ram Puniyani, Teesta Setalvad, Dolphy D’Souza, Sanjay M G, Irfan Engineer, Ulka Mahajan, Sharad Kadam & Feroze Mithiborwala.
*Therefore, let us gather at 8.00 am, at Girgaum Chowpatty, Lokmanya Tilak Statue, and march to the August Kranti Maidan.*
